HERBERT P ZIMMERMAN 1962-01-30 Services for Herbert P. ZIMMERMAN, 81, former president of R. R. Donnelley & Sons company, who died Sunday in Community hospital, Geneva, will be held at 2 p.m. today in St. mark's Episcopal church, Geneva. Mr. Zimmerman joined the printing firm upon his graduation from the University of Chicago in 1901, and was president from 1943 to 1948. From 1948 until his retirement in 1954, he served as vice chairman of the board. He leaves a daughter, Mrs. John P. AYER of Winnetka, and a sister, Mrs. Charles P. ROCKWOOD of Geneva. His wife, Katherine, died a month ago. ZIMMERMANN, 81, civic leader and former president of R. R. Donnelley & Sons company, printers at 350 E. Cermak rd., died of bronchial pneumonia yesterday in Community hospital, Geneva. His death came only a month after that of his wife, Katherine. Mr. ZIMMERMANN was graduated from the University of Chicago in 1901, when he became associated with the printing company. He was president from 1943 to 1948 and vice chairman of the board of directors from 1948 until his retirement in 1954. He continued to serve as a director. Visited Firm Often He made frequent visits to the printing firm from his home at 1211 Meadows rd., Geneva, until a year ago. Mr. ZIMMERMANN was active in University of Chicago alumni activities and was a trustee of the university for several years. He helped organize the Council on Medical and Biological Research there. He was active in Geneva and was a trustee of the Community hospital from 1923 to 1960. He also had been a member of the Geneva Cemetery board. Daughter, Sister Survive Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. John P. AYER of Winnetka, and a sister, Mrs. Charles P. ROCKWOOD of Geneva. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow in St. Mark's Episcopal church, Geneva. The body is in the chapel at 201 James st., Geneva.
