Hon. A. K. WHEELER (edges unreadable, replaced with ____) We announced in the larger protion last week's issure that Hon. A. K. WHEELER had died at his home in Na-au-say, and now give a sketch of his life. He was born at Hubbardtown, Vermont, April 29, 17__ and while very young his parents moved to Castleton in the same state. March 7, 18__ he was married to Sarah WHITLOCK, the ___ aged wife who still survives him in her 8___ year. In 1843 he came to Kendall county with O. C. JOHNSON and his son, Ro__ WHEELER. They took up land and remained here, Mr. WHEELER returning East. In ____ he came here with his family and located permanently on the farm where he died. He lived six years in Aurora some years ago, where two of his daughters were married. Mr. WHEELER was a very popular ____ with the people, and held many offices ____ trust in his Vermont home; coming here held the offices of assessor and supervisor of Na-au-say for a number of terms, and ___ 1854 represented the counties of Kendall and Kane in the State Legislature as a Republican; where he helped make Lym___ Trumbull U. S. Senator. It was a memorable session. He died March 2, 1880, ____ was buried from his home in the AuxSa___ cemetery; Rev. T. F. Jessup conducting ___ funeral services. Mr. WHEELER leaves six children: Rol___ M., Mrs. O. C. JOHNSON, Sheldon H., M___ Todd, John A., and Mrs. Henry WEBBER ____ is one of the best known and highly respected families in the county. A. K. WHEELER was a man of mark in ___ active days; a staunch union man, a ____ republican, his opinions were often sought in political matters.
