Miss Mary E. STUBBS Miss Mary E. STUBBS, one of the oldest and best known women in Aurora, died at her late home. Sunday morning at 4:50 o'clock. She was 68 years old. She was born in Aurora, Dec. 3, 1853 and has been a continuos resident of the city from the time of her birth. She is well known as vocalist. With her sister, Mrs. J.S. GREENAWAY, she sang from the steps of the old Tremont house when the Thirtysixth regiment left for the civil war. The sisters were the first to sing "Tramp, Tramp, Tramp, the boys are Marching," in Aurora. The deceased was a member of the East High graduating class of 1873. She was one of the first members of the Trinity church choir. Her father, the late Joseph STUBBS, was one of the first machinist in the employment of the Burlington railroad. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. J.S. GREENAWAY, and three brothers, Frank, James and Dr. E.W. STUBBS, all of Aurora. The funeral will be held from the late home, 338 Liberty street, Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock and at 2:30 o'clock from Trinity Episcopal church. The Rev. B.E. Chapman will officiate.
