CLARENCE H. SAMUELSON MARENGO - Clarence H. SAMUELSON, 85, of Marengo, died Friday, June 11, 1993, at St. Joseph Hospital Belvidere. He was born November 29, 1907 in Hampshire, the son of the late Charles and Lydia (AURAND) SAMUELSON. On August 14, 1932, in Elgin, he was married to Gertrude DOSCHER, who survives. In 1934 in Coral, he opened Sam and Gert's Tavern, later Harmony Tap and since 1959 Sam's Tavern in Marengo. He was a member of the Woodstock Elks Club and the Woodstock Moose for 41 years. He is also survived by one son Dave (Jinny) SAMUELSON of Marengo; three grandchildren, Eve (Mark) CHABERSKI, Lane and Cole SAMUELSON, all of Marengo; one great-granddaughter, Devon Rae CHABERSKI; and one sister, Pearl GILBERT of Marengo. He also was preceded in death by two sisters Esther SAMUELSON and Mabel MARKS, and a brother Vernon. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, June 13, at the Marengo- Union Funeral Home. Funeral and interment will be private. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Marengo or the Marengo Rescue Squad. This was transcribed from an unknown source.
