CORA WALKER READ Death Comes to Mrs. W. A. READ in Elgin Hospital Years of Suffering at an End - Funeral largely attended at home yesterday. After suffering ill health covering a period of more than fifteen years, death came as a relief to Mrs. Welford A. READ, who passed from this life in the Sherman hospital Sunday afternoon, following an operation of six weeks ago. Cora WALKER was born in Virgil township January 27, 1861. In November, 18?? [spot on the copy and I can't make it out], she was united in marriage to W. A. READ in Virgil township. To this union were given five sons and three daughters, who, with the husband survive, to mourn the loss of a devoted wife and loving mother. They are Stella, Ernest, Floyd, Richmond, Arthur, Florence and Morris of Lily Lake; and Mrs. Blanche BURTON of Newton Falls, Ohio. The funeral was held from the late home yesterday afternoon conducted by the Rev. J. A. Cole. It was unusually largely attended by sorrowing relatives and lifelong friends. S. BROWN, Read HODGEKINSON, Chicago; Charles BROOKS, Mr. and Mrs. J. I. DeLANCY, Elgin, and many from Elburn. She had been at the hospital for more than two months. Mrs. READ was fifty four years of age. Besides her husband she is survived by three children. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, five sons, Ernest, Floyd, Richmond, Arthur and Morris; three daughters, Misses Stella and Florence READ and Mrs. Blanche BURTON of Ohio, one brother, and one sister, besides many other relatives and friends.
