MABEL FRANCES MARKS

 Mabel Frances MARKS, 77, of 316 W. Grant Highway, Marengo died Feb. 17 
at St. Joseph's Hospital in Belvidere following a brief illness.

 She was born July 12, 1903 in Hampshire, the daughter of Charles and 
Lydia AURAND SAMUELSON.  She married Louis MARKS in Elgin March 15, 
1926, who survives.

 Mrs. MARKS was employed during the 1960's by the Admiral Corporation, 
was a crossing guard for Washington School the past eight years and a 
member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Marengo.

 In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter Marcia 
JETTON, Peoria; two sons Robert (Buzz), Marengo and James of Colorado; 
six grandchildren; a brother Clarence SAMUELSON of Marengo; and two 
sisters, Pearl GILBERT of Marengo and Esther SAMUELSON of Hampshire.  
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Vernon and a brother 
Levoy in infancy.  Mass will be said at 10:00 Thursday morning at Sacred 
Heart Catholic Church, Father Cahill officiating, with burial in Mt. 
Hope Cemetery, Elgin.  A liturgical wake will be held Wednesday night at 
7:00 at the Osborne-Fashingbauer Funeral Home.

 Memorials may be made to the Marengo Rescue Squad or in the form of 
masses.
