HARRISON MATHEWSON FORMER ELBURN BANKER DIES IN FLORIDA AT 77 Harrison MATHEWSON died unexpectedly Saturday afternoon, February 26, at his home in North Miami, Florida, following a massive stroke. Age 77, he was born in Elburn July 3, 1888, son of Adlbert and DeEtta MATHEWSON, and brother of the late Gertrude MEREDITH and J. Warne MATHEWSON. He was married October 28, 1913 to Nina CONE. He was educated in the Elburn schools and was vice was president of the Kane County Bank before becoming a bank examiner and moving to Oak Park. Upon retiring, the MATHEWSONs moved to Florida, where in 1963 they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at the Miami Shores Country Club. He is survived by his wife Nina, a son Richard in Miami Shores, daughter-in-law Eleanor, three granddaughters Alice Kay, Patricia Lee, Christine, also nieces and nephews. The funeral was held Tuesday, March 1 from the Phil-Vic Funeral Home, Miami Shores. Burial was in Florida. Mr. and Mrs. Sterling CAPES returned last Thursday from a trip south and had spent a day with her aunt and uncle. At that time he was in good spirits and talked about Elburn and friends back here.
