HELMUTH HOLZE (Source unknown) Helmuth HOLZE, 75 of Elgin passed away Monday, April 9, 2001 in his home. He was born July 13, 1925 in Hampshire, the son of Karl and Lena Schroeder Holze. He had been a resident of the Elgin area all of his life. He was a graduate of Elgin High School Class of 1944. He then attended the University of Illinois-Champaign where he received a degree in Industrial Design. After graduation he was briefly employed by Brinckley Display in Elgin. The remainder of his life, he was self-employed Designer Builder and Real Estate Developer. He started his career building homes and apartments in Elgin including the Easy St./Lin Lor Ln, residential subdivision. In the late 1960's he began development of Old World Village in West Dundee which includes commercial and residential property over which he maintained active control throughout his life. He was a veteral of W.W.II serving in the Army Corp. He was known for his sense of humor and was also an accomplished artist, cartoonist, potter and coffee drinker. He was a member of the Classic Car Club of America since 1956 and was an avid antique toy collector exhibiting at the Kane Co. Fairgrounds for the past 25 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Elgin. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Ann KUESTNER Holze, whom he married on Oct. 20, 1951; two daughters, Linda (Jack) BRAGG of Crystal Lake and Laura HOLZE of Elgin; a son, Larry (Beverly) HOLZE of Wheaton; five granddaughters, Rebecca and Katherine BRAGG, Valerie, Talia and Jenna HOLZE; two sisters-in-law, Helen HOLZE of Elgin and Ruth KUESTNER of Geneva; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Holze. Funeral service will be 11:30 a.m., Thursday in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin, the Rev. Thomas Walker officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Wednesday in the funeral home.
