FLETCHER Obituary for Henry FLETCHER from the Elgin (IL) Daily Courier 24 May 1886 p. 4 Col. 4: An Old Settler Gone Died, at Elgin, May23rd, 1886, Henry Fletcher in his 72nd year. Mr. Fletcher was born in England, and when a boy his parents came to this country and settled in Wyoming County, Pennsylvania, from which place he removed to Elgin township in 1851. Long before his final illness he often expressed his readiness to depart this life, and during his last sickness patiently and anxiously awaited the final summons, exclaiming almost with his last breath, " 'Tis almost over." He was an earnest, consistent Christian, a kind husband, and the best of fathers, who earnestly endeavored to represent his Savior, and looking back over the past, one unkind word is hardly to be remembered. The funeral will be held from the late residence, 24 Porter Street at 9 a.m. Tuesday, with services by Rev. Mr. Young at the Udina Church Cem. (Note: body later moved to Bluff City Cemetery) Transcribed by: B Eggert - mailto:blgert@aol.com Return to Kane County pages using the "BACK" button on your browser.
