John Baumgartner 79 formerly of Elgin Died Saturday in a Fresno, Calif. nursing home. Born in Switzerland Sept 27, 1885 he came to the United States at the age of 17. Before going to Delmo, Calif. to work in the vineyards, he was employed in cheese factories in Broadhead, Wis. Three of nine surviving sisters live in Elgin. They are Mrs. Martha PAULOS, Mrs. Lena VEGE and Mrs. Hattie DUEWEL. Others are Mrs. Bertha HAGGI of Switzerland, Mrs. Anna RUETER of chicago, Mrs. Emma SCHUETZ of Deerfield, Mrs. Rose BURREN and Mrs. Mary MADSEN of Wickenburg, Ariz., and Mrs. Freda LEONARD of Winslow Ariz. Also surviving are two brothers, Gottfred and Werner both of Elgin.
