GOTTFRIED BAUMGARTNER Taken from the October 26, 1965 Elgin Daily Courier Gottfried BAUMGARTNER 71 of Elgin Rt. 2 died in his home in Udina. He was born in Switzerland May 10, 1893 a son of John and Rosetta ZURCHER Baumgartner and resided at Udina for the past 18 years. He formerly resided in Plato Twp. where he farmed. Following retirement from farming he worked for several years in the maintenance department of the State of Illinois division of Highways. He was a member of St.Paul United Church of Christ. Surviving are the widow, Hattie MOELLER BAUMGARTNER; three daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Florence) HECKER and Mrs. Weldon (Betty) EWERT both of Elgin, and and Mrs. Kenneth (Doris) DARNELL of Algonquin; three sons Clarence J., Glen H., and Edwin F., all of Elgin; nine sisters, Mrs. Bertha YAGGI in Switzerland, Mrs. Ernest (Rose) BURREN and Mrs. Jens (Mary) MADSEN of Wickenburg, Ariz., Mrs. Robert (Frieda) LEONARD of Winslow, ariz., Mrs. Peter (Martha) PAULOS, Mrs. Carl (Hattie) DUEWEL and Mrs. James (Lena) VEGE all of Elgin; Mrs. Anna REUTER of Chicago, and Mrs. Leubbert (Emma) SCHUETZ of Deerfield, and a brother Werner of Elgin.
