MAJOR B T HUNT BUTLER FERSONS LATHROP MINARD POOL Major B.T.HUNT - Resident of Kane Co. for 61 years, born Oct. 19, 1812 at Abington, Plymouth Co., Mass. His father Thomas HUNT, Jr, was also a native of that place, where his grandfather Thomas HUNT, Sr. raised his family. Major HUNTs mother was Susannah POOL, also born Mass. He assisted his father Thomas Jr. in the tanning and manufacturing business and later with his older brother Joseph, assumed control and built up a large shoe factory. In 1836, Major HUNT came west, locating in St.Charles Sept.10th. He purchased a half interest in 200 acres along with Ira MINARD and Reed FERSONS. In the fall of 1836, he returned to Mass., but returned in 1837 permanently. He married Miss Harriet H. LANTHROP in St. Charles Oct. 12, 1842, who was born in New York. Her father was Simon LATHROP, who settled in St. Charles as early as 1841, a merchant with 3 daughters. Major and Mrs. HUNT had4 children: Charles,Frank Bradley, Clarence, and Wilbur C.
