Walter H. HOLZE of Willow Lakes Estates, Elgin Memorial services for Walter H. HOLZE, 77, will be held at 2 P.M. Monday, at Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin. Dr. Robert Wisehart will officiate. Born April 4, 1922, in Germany, the son of Karl and Lena Schroeder Holze, he died Thursday, July 29, 1999, at home. Burial will be private. He had been a resident of Elgin for most of his life before moving to Gulfport, Fla. in 1984, and returned to Elgin in 1999. He was a graduate of Elgin High School, class of 1940. He attended Elgin Community College and was a graduate of The Cleveland Institute of Electrical Engineering. He was employed by Chicago Rawhide as a electrical engineering before retiring in 1984. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Navy. Mr. Holze was a member of First Baptist Church of Elgin, American Legion Post 57 of Elgin and the Elgin Sprocketeers. He was the northwest advancement chairman for the Boy Scouts, founder and member of `The Happy Notes' band, while in Florida. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Helen Beverly HOLZE, whom he married on Sept. 29, 1948; children, David (Karen) HOLZE of Jacksonville, Fla. and Beverly (Michael) LEE of Elgin; grandchildren, Justin and Jeremy LEE; brother, Helmuth (Margaret) HOLZE of Elgin; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be on Monday at the time of the services only. Memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church of Elgin. For information, (847) 741-8800.
